Meet John
John Sullivan is the Democratic candidate who meets this moment.
John is a former FBI Intelligence Analyst with nearly two decades of experience. When John joined the FBI he took an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States. Today, President Donald Trump and Congressman Mike Lawler are making us less safe by ripping up that oath and replacing experts and public servants with political henchmen all while selling America off to the highest bidder. After a career of public service and protecting this nation, John refuses to sit by and watch as our nation becomes more vulnerable. He is running for Congress to ensure that the safety of American families is protected now and into the future.
Raised in a working-class family, John’s parents taught him early on the values of hard work, service, and fairness.
After becoming the first in his family to earn a four-year degree, he joined the FBI, tracking bad guys on surveillance missions around our nation’s capital. He worked his way up into leadership positions, serving presidents of both parties and working to combat national security threats from foreign adversaries, terrorists in the Middle East, and drug cartels and human traffickers at our southern border. John left the FBI as one of the most senior gay officials in the bureau.
In 2014, John was diagnosed with cancer.
With the help of a close-knit community and the privilege of having good health insurance, he was able to get the care he needed and is now cancer free. John knows that everyone should have access to the same level of care.
In this frightening and pivotal moment in our history, John is the best candidate to flip this important district. He will take his experience as a leader at the FBI, as a husband and father, and as a cancer survivor to Congress where he'll fight to keep the Hudson Valley safe from internal and external threats alike.
John will work to protect our families, expand access to health care, bring down costs on everyday goods, and lower taxes for working families.
